Urban Legend Cosmetics.
Let colour lead the portrait.
A self-initiated beauty concept that turns the colours of a cosmetics palette into an editorial character. The product and portrait share the frame, exploring how a shade story could become a recognisable campaign world.

The concept brief.
Build an editorial beauty image around a palette rather than a product claim. The self-set brief was to make colour, character and packaging feel part of the same world, with enough visual structure to guide a wider creative direction.
Who this could speak to
Beauty shoppers who enjoy expressive colour and editorial imagery. The creative hypothesis is that a distinctive shade story could help a product stand out while showing its creative possibilities. Audience response and shade expectations would need testing for a real launch.
A creative hypothesis to validate, rather than completed customer research. The creative choices.
Connect colour to character
Violet eye colour echoes the palette in the foreground. That visual connection gives the product a role in the portrait and makes the shade story easy to follow.
Build a sculptural setting
Mirrored surfaces, metallic packaging and the mannequin create a slightly surreal world. Repeated reflections add depth while keeping the attention on the face and product.
Bring the product forward
The open palette fills the lower frame. Its geometry balances the close portrait, keeping both the editorial character and the imagined product visible in one composition.
What holds it together.
- Colour
- Violet as the expressive accent, grounded by deep charcoal and reflective metallic tones.
- Material
- Gloss, mirrors and metal contrast with skin and fabric texture.
- Composition
- A close portrait with the product prominent in the foreground and reflections adding depth.
A direction with possibility.
What is shown
The original portrait concept artwork shown here, combining the imagined cosmetics palette, violet beauty look and mirrored setting.
Where it could go
- An editorial launch image
- Shade-focused social content
- Art direction for a product landing page
These are possible applications. This is an independent studio concept; commissioned deliverables, product accuracy, usage rights and final formats would be agreed around a real brief.
Imagine what we could create.
For a beauty brief, we would agree your product, audience and desired mood, then develop a direction with accurate shades and approved claims.
